Amelia Scalies is a Top 40/AC charting Indie Singer-Songwriter from Pennsylvania. This passionate, talented writer has been connecting and moving audiences well beyond her years. Amelia’s lyrics focus mainly on the human experience/universal themes. Her debut Album “I Should’ve Known” offers 11 original tracks and one cover by My Chemical Romance – “Welcome to the Black Parade”. Album content ranges from Contemporary Country to Alternative Rock. Audiences of all ages have embraced Amelia’s music at her live performances in New York City, Philadelphia, Wilmington, Washington DC, and Baltimore.

This solo album by Amelia Scalies, is not what a typical, alternative pop-rock fan might hope to discover from a fourteen year-old singer-songwriter, it is so much more: a fine balance between Amelia’s musical styles and enough experimentation to whet your whistle and make you wonder what else she has up her sleeve in the years to come.

On this album, Amelia’s singular voice is at its best, sounding pristine and smooth on every song. Her songwriting is equally inviting: she has crafted eleven (plus one cover) songs with moving, meaningful lyrics that are presented through compelling musical compositions. This is not bubble gum pop; it’s an album with that will leave the serious listener fully satisfied

As for the individual songs on “I Should’ve Known”, all have something to offer and are well worth the listen. Each song contributes to the cumulative musical strength of this album. My personal favorites, however, are the melancholy and haunting powerful “Don’t Let Them Win”; the softly acoustic “Rose Blossom”; the beautifully simple “Phoenix”; the reassuring and rhythmic “I Should’ve Known”; the melodic and graceful “Rise”; and the caring, emotional “What I Should Have Said”.

Even though there are a variety of styles on this album, Amelia’s powerful voice threads a constant theme. “I Should’ve Known”, tends to grow richer and more endearing with each listen. This album is just beautiful, end to end, there is not a single track you’ll need to skip.

Amelia Scalies is an incredible songwriter, and the songwriting on this album doesn’t disappoint. Her young voice is incredibly emotive and moving, and she manages her sound without seeming too forceful or without trying too hard. Music lovers with a taste for well written songs and distinctive vocals will appreciate this departure from the world of shallow pop singers and hollow divas.

This album charts Amelia’s musical growth and maturity well beyond her 14 years, and leaves me wondering what will come next. In my opinion, “I Should’ve Known”, affirms Amelia Scalies place among the finest up-and-coming young female musicians today. The album is excellent, and I highly recommend it to you!
