From Arizona to Hollywood. From Arizona native Irene Ashu is making a name for herself in the entertainment industry. Irene is a dancer, director, and choreographer. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2013 Irene worked alongside artist such as SZA, P!NK, Superfruit, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Hudson, David Guetta, Afrojack, DJ Carnage, WIZKID, Fanny Neguesha, AlunaGeorge, Chris Brown, Big Sean, Jeremih, SHIN, Carrie Underwood, Little Mix, Beba Rexha, MAJOR LAZER, and more.
Irene has performed and curated performances on shows such as the Late Late Show With James Cordon, and the MTV VMA awards. Irene had the privilege of performing with P!NK for her Michael Jackson Video Vanguard performance. Irene has appeared, directed, and choreographed various commercials with brands such as Apple, Sony, Coolhaus Ice Cream, Hollister, Google, Android, LG, Toyota, Irvine Auto Center, and Under Armour.
The valley native continues to expand her portfolio and break barriers!
Collaborating With Serena Williams:
Ashu describes it as one of the highlights of her career. The young director got a chance to direct a series of ADS for Serena Williams clothing line. Irene co-directed the live-action adverts along-side Cleon Arrey. Beyond the live-action adverts, Irene had the privilege of creating a digital photo series featuring the dancers. When Ashu first heard about Serena Williams clothing line she was ecstatic. Irene has always been inspired by Serena Williams on and off the court. Ashu loves to utilize dancers in her adverts because she believes movement is one of the best ways to tell stories. The ads are available across Serena’s social media platforms (@SERENA & @SERENAWILLIAMS) & Ashu’s Vimeo channel. Ashu will continue creating ADS and content for Serena’s social media channels!
What Inspired Her:
“ I am surrounded by some of the most powerful people in the industry. My friends serve as a lot of inspiration for me. I am writer at heart so I am constantly writing projects. I took a lot of inspiration from my project She Bends and Black Girl Business. When Serena relaunched her clothing line in May, I wrote the first prototype for the AD. I’ve always been bold. I drafted a package and sent it to her representatives to gain sponsorship. The AD features a few of my close friends. I always create from my heart and want to include the people around me.” -Irene Ashu

I just started my own production company! Afrique Au Monde is a full service production company. We specialize in Music Video, Commercial, TV, Live stage, and film production. Our company is host some of the industries best cinematographers, choreographers, creative directors, Set designers, and editors. Afrique Au Monde is based in Los Angeles but we have the capacity to produce content anywhere in the world. Afrique Au Monde brings a unique creative edge to any event. We transcend beyond delivering a product. We strive to create a vision and tell stories. Afrique Au Monde maintains the highest level of professionalism, timeliness, creativity, and enthusiasm.
Beyond that I hope to keep achieving my goals and empowering more young people.
