There are a lot of reasons why I love ZUFO. Every single second of each song he records is absolutely enthralling in every way. First off, the lyrics; Zufo always finds a way to express deep thoughts simply, yet so elegantly. I imagine that if we knew anything about his personal history over the last several years, many of the phrases and words he uses will have an even more powerful emotional impact on us.

Every lyric is brilliantly poignant and sounds deeply personal, while also being universal enough for anyone to relate to. I love that. Not only are the words impactful and meaningful, they just flow beautifully. The musical textures that are utilized here are also wonderful, and again nearly every song is laced with subtle studio and instrumental flourishes that become more and more evident with every spin.

Zufo has a pop-oriented sound that’s accentuated by lush keyboards, gritty guitars and tasteful dark 80’s electronic flourishes. All seasoned with his intimate and immediately accessible vocals that deliver melodic verses and soaring choruses.

Two songs that stand out above the rest are without any doubt “Broken” and “We’re Time Machines”. Nowadays you rarely hear music that combines thought-provoking, beautiful, memorable lyrics with real music created on instruments that flows perfectly in a cycle. These two tracks feel like a warm hug from a hot and intellectual girlfriend. They’re familiar, yet emotionally challenging, mentally stimulating and totally satisfying.

In an age where tuneless crap constantly floats over the airways, Zufo’s melodies are all strong and make for repeat listening. Everything is painstakingly perfect, in pitch, in place…and melodic; which doesn’t mean that Zufo disregards rhythm, on the contrary. One listen to “Really Feeling Something” and “Hole In My Sole”, where each driven beat is audaciously potent in expressing incessant emotions, proves the point.

And though there may be fiery emotional content in both lyrics and musical mood, there is absolutely no whining and zero self-indulgence, as Zufo is bestowed with a rare union of a keen mind and a deep heart.

His tracks are incisive, unique and compelling, providing a current of alternative electro-rock soundscapes to carry you through the journey of rich images, woven by words.

I strongly suggest you go and discover Zufo if you like to ‘listen’ and ‘experience’ the music, instead of something to fill the silence.
