Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, the all-around-entertainer Ambition has already performed at shows alongside Rick Ross, Trey Songz, Kerri Hilson and Eric Bene’t. Not to mention, his brief stint in R&B Group Pretty Ricky as 4Play, professional B-Boy dancing in Get Down Gang, Choreographing and Artist Development for  Blue-Star Artist Crave and appearances in various media outlets including Black Beat Magazine, Right On Magazine, Vibe Magazine, World Up Magazine, the BET Awards and 106 N Park.

Ambition has already been attributed to people moving their feet with the Top 40 Dance Song, “Diary,” by 11thRecords Recording Artist Tino Coury. Ambition wrote the song, produced by Coury, with Alex Cantrall (Fantasia, Dru Hill, JoJo). Now Ambition releases his highly anticipated mix-tape VERSES/VERSUS.

I think Ambition is extremely talented but he hasn’t showcased an album that frames his talent so perfectly until VERSES/VERSUS. His previous efforts all have good songs but this entire mixtape hits and keeps hitting from track 1 through to track 23.  There is a great mix of songs on here. There are club bangers, there are slow jams, and there are hip-hop songs.

Ambition really embodies many layers and genres to appeal to a wide audience. He has major pop, R&B, and even rap tracks here, that are single potentials. This is honestly a great listen.

Ambition has a nice, smooth, but energetic, R&B voice that can easily ride over upbeat and ballad tracks. Straight off the blocks with tracks like “I Want It All”, “11 To 7,” and “Perform 4 Me,” he will be able to prove to the world that he’s more than just a trendy singer and that he has a voice. Ambition has beautiful harmonies, infectious and clever melodies as he showcases his silky tone and soothing harmonies VERSES/VERSUS.

What I really love about this album is that it is contemporary but not cliché and generic. Ambition is a smart man, especially at his craft. He knows how to put his own twist on Dance-Pop and Hip-Hop singles so they can relate to what this generation’s music listeners are into, but still differ. I also love the fact that there’s such a variety on this mixtape; the fact that he wanted to incorporate more than just the straight R&B/Hip-Hop that many expect from him.

I have a strong feeling that he will continue to grow as a music artist and become a force to be reckoned with. Ambition’s fans can see the progress and maturity and the level of music with this mixtape. VERSES/VERSUS contains a bucketful of his signature heartfelt songs that girls will fall in love with and that guys can play for their women. He has delivered a mixtape that caters to his fans and Pop/R&B followers, one that builds upon his sonic repertoire and signals the emergence of an artist whose work will endure. VERSES/VERSUS really shows that Ambition is better than ever.

My favourite tracks include “Strange Clouds”, “They Don’t Understand”, “Take Ya Clothes Off”, “I Get It In”, “Hotel”, “My#1” and “Ecstasy”, but with 23 tracks the list is almost endless.

This album reflects his hard work and if Ambition chooses to expand his music from this level, even better things are likely to come!
