Don Profit was born in Chicago and raised on the golden era of hip-hop. He has a range of influences from Rakim and Big Daddy Kane, to B.I.G, 2Pac, and Nas. As an artist, Don’s strength is in his versatility in style and witty wordplay. He has published his second studio release; a full length album entitled “Don Profit is: Don Négro…Rise of the Black Don”. The lead-off single “Stuck!!” is picking up steam in several radio markets currently.
Don Profit’s explosive lyrical talent, sharp wit and personality, is the showcase of this great album. He is never short on rhymes and never stumbling, as he moves swiftly from one motif to another, retaining his sense of cool suave. It is this uncanny marriage of urban sophistication and verbal aggression that makes the Don so engaging.
Profit finds a perfect balance between his cool playa persona and the hustler on the corner attitude. His booming voice commands your attention and respect, and makes the attentive listen pay off in the end. It is very hard for any artist to make an album and have everything turn out great. In my opinion Don Profit succeeds in doing just that with this album, because of one thing, versatility. The album includes production from Stomboxx Music, Stro Da Great, Johnny Juliano, Kenny Keys, Beatg33kz, and Platinum Sellers; giving it a wide variety of styles and tastes.
Fourteen tracks, including standouts “Sound Off”, “Stuck”, “I’m The Ish”, “ Ready For Whateva”, “Love Affair”, “Why U Playing”, “Cathedral” and “I Can’t Wait”, is a testament to the Don’s undeniable skills as an emcee. He masters his flow and shows his versatility on this album. He tells stories, gives us club music, he gets serious, he clowns around, he raps and rhymes fast, and give us hard core street music. This is the definition of a complete album, and that is exactly what “Don Négro…Rise of the Black Don” is.
Don Profit has a very vivid and detailed way of describing the events going on in his songs, so to picture yourself at the events as they happen, is surprisingly easy. So over and above the amazing beats, there is incredible storytelling, almost flawless flows, and great rhyming.
“Don Négro…Rise of the Black Don” is really impressive and the tracks and the whole style of the album is original bringing to mind on how talented this rapper is and how great his words are. It’s seems that everything that Don Profit is doing, is going to be classic. However it’s rare that a rapper can have commercial hits and still maintain his street credibility. So only time will tell if Don Profit can continue to find the perfect balance within his tracks.
This is an album with some real hot tracks that fail to disappoint. There are absolutely no fillers at all. You have to hear the songs to know what I mean. Go buy and download it now!
