The Spellz is an artistic name of a Canadian artist NAS. The Spellz has a strong vision to be the very first international artist to attract and inspire English speaking and Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi speaking global population through messages of peace and love for all. Due to inherent talents of being able to compose and sing naturally both Western Rock and Roll and Eastern Raagas, The Spellz is a true reflection of the cultural diversity of Canada.

The Spellz idea of music is “Love for music and music for all”. He says: “I believe that melody, music and rhythm is a divine gift. Each composition is a spiritual journey for me and I want to share with the world. I want to break the ice between cultures, regions, religions, ideals and misconceptions because I believe that we are all one big family and we need to love and respect each other.”

Master of My Fate the new song released by The Spellz, dedicated to the 2014 World Cup , has it’s lyrics and inspiration taken from the poem “Invictus” written by William Ernest Henley (1849–1903). Henley had one of his legs amputated at the age of 17. The poem which he wrote while healing from the amputation is a testimony to his refusal to let his handicap disrupt his life.

The poem reads:

Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be, For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance, I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance, My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears, Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years, Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.

From a thematic standpoint, Master of My Fate is a song about overpowering vulnerability and beating obstacles. It reveals the bruises and scars, but moreover their healing. It’s not music for the faint of heart; it’s a song that makes a statement. If you’re looking for the kind of emotion that makes every hair on the back of your neck stand on end, while your spirit and soul is uplifted, then The Spellz is your kind of artist.

In the current realm of rock music, The Spellz blends in perfectly with the radio-rock sound that has been done by Nickelback , Seether, Theory Of A Deadman and Three Days Grace. But, unlike those bands, which also incorporate violent lyrics, The Spellz has put down a track that is straight from the heart and truly poetic.

It still contains strong musical rhythms, hard guitar rips, and great vocals, but it doesn’t push the borders of metal or screaming obscenities into your eardrums.  Master of My Fate is everything I like to hear in modern day rock music; a wall of guitars, strong melody, powerful singing, great lyrics and a variety of tempos. The Spellz accomplishes all of that in this latest epic single. This is about positive energy, attitude, and passion!
