SAN FRANCISCO, CA- Indie Gypsy Rock group, The Stages of Sleep will be embarking on a multi-city trip across California from June 12th- 27th to celebrate the release of their first full-length album. The Stages of Sleep have incorporated musical talents from all over the US on their debut album Carousel, including Kelly Pratt (Beirut, David Byrne) and The Quartet Rouge (Green Day). The band now plans to bring these sounds to new audiences, using their eclectic, funky, cross-genre musical stylings. Their passionate, no-holds-barred live performances have earned them a loyal following and cemented their reputation as a band to keep an eye on in Northern California.

The Stages of Sleep will be playing at:

6/12/13 – Rosie McCann’s Irish Pub & Restaurant – Santa Cruz, CA 6/13/13 – TBA- San Luis Obispo, CA 6/14/13 – Good Hurt – Los Angeles, CA 6/16/13 – TBA – San Diego, CA 6/18/13 – Trip – Santa Monica. “Their answer to mundane music is to deliver something unique and powerful with a breath of fresh air, highly technical playing styles and a strong signature sound that refuses to be defined via one listen.” -Rory Richardson ( Skope)

Rarely do you hear something that sounds so completely fresh and groovy at the same time. The Stages of Sleep fuse elements of art rock, jam band, gypsy, rock and pop music in a way that I believe had yet to be done. So who cares what the genre is. Does it even have one? The harmonic complexities will tug at your soul, and each song is catchy, making you want to move, but is also ethereal and bittersweet in places, forging “Carousel” into a stunningly, and hauntingly beautiful album.

Rich, complex, whimsical, magical, uplifting, chilling, intriguing, captivating, and addictive are part of the adjectives you could throw around to describe the sound of The Stages of Sleep. But their style is so unique and original; you’d have trouble trying to compare it to anything else.

“Carousel” undeniably candidates The Stages of Sleep, among my best indie album of the year contenders. From beginning to end, this album will continue to amaze you. With powerful vocals, edgy beats, intense melodies, and raw lyrics to back it all up, “Carousel” just gets better and better the more you listen to it.
