Country-rock powerhouse Bordertown & Co. is unleashed their latest single and music video, “Backroad King,” on Friday, August 29 — a high-octane ode to muddy roads, loud engines, and wild nights with nowhere to be but free.

Rooted in the band’s Illinois upbringing and fueled by southern rock swagger, “Backroad King” captures the spirit of getting lost just for the hell of it — whether with a cold beer, a pretty passenger, or a burning need to escape. “‘Backroad King’ is a simple, edgy teen tale,” says the band. “Everyone can take themselves back to a time when they were a ‘backroad king’ — tearing it up in a beater, just looking to disappear into the dirt roads.”

Originally presented as a chaotic, near-metal jam, the track found new life when vocalist Tyler Young slowed it down and let it breathe. “It was more Slayer than Skynyrd at first,” the band laughs. “But we shaped it into something bluesy and southern — something that feels like a boot-stomper with big energy and a killer groove.”

The upcoming music video channels that exact energy into what the band describes as a “booze cruise car chase.” “We’ve got Hollywood dreams and hometown money,” they admit, “but we want every video to feel like a story you can ride along with.”

Recorded with Bordertown & Co.’s signature blend of country grit and rock intensity, “Backroad King” is more than just a fun ride — it’s a declaration of the band’s evolving sound and future vision. “This track is just the beginning,” they note. “It reflects our roots, but it also points to where we’re going. We’re constantly evolving, and this song shows our true identity.”

Known for their high-energy live shows and genre-pushing sound, Bordertown & Co. has shared stages with national acts like Bryan Martin and Low Down Drifters — and tracks like this hit even harder in front of a crowd. “When we play it live, we stray from the recording — we crank it up and blow the roof off. That’s just how we do it.”

Whether you’re reliving your own backroad nights or discovering the band for the first time, “Backroad King” is a ride worth taking. The single and official video are out now https://www.facebook.com/bordertownandco
