Rock power trio MegaDestroyer has officially released their new single and video, “STEAM.” The track arrives as a powerful introduction to the band’s sound and vision. MegaDestroyer is Ric Orta (bass/vocals), Marlon “Marlo” Lowe (drums), and Colin Moore (guitar/vocals). Built on shared life experiences, honesty, and a refusal to flatten their sound into something predictable, the band channels intensity, groove, and real-world weight into their music.
With “STEAM,” MegaDestroyer delivers a hard-hitting rock track that pairs driving energy with memorable vocal presence and a message rooted in curiosity, resilience, and personal transformation. The song draws from deeply personal experiences while also looking outward, shaped in part by Colin Moore’s fascination with science, astronomy, and the awe sparked by the first images captured by the James Webb Space Telescope.
Though the title may initially suggest pressure or emotional release, “STEAM” actually takes its meaning from Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. For MegaDestroyer, the song stands as both a personal statement and a broader call to remain curious and open-minded.
Moore also describes the song as the culmination of years of hardship, reflection, and rebuilding. “This song has been over 10 years in the making,” he says. “It’s my version of a journal entry of my journey in overcoming substance abuse, living in my car, and extreme poverty.” That lived intensity is part of what gives “STEAM” its impact. The result is a song with real punch, strong melodic pull, and the kind of vocal delivery that stays with you.
On stage, “STEAM” has already become a defining moment in the band’s live set. “When we play live, we are locked in,” says Moore. “This song is the culmination of our set, and everything gets left on the stage.”
The release of “STEAM” marks an important step forward for the band as they continue to build momentum. MegaDestroyer has signed with Damon Moreno and The Inner Light Agency for management, and the band is currently preparing additional recordings at Inner Light Studios with renowned mixing and mastering engineer Ari M., while gearing up for regional live dates.
With “STEAM” now out in the world, MegaDestroyer is making a clear declaration: loud, heartfelt, thoughtful rock music delivered with conviction. Check them out: https://www.facebook.com/MegaDestroyerOfficial/
