Danny Newport is an award winning songwriter and performer from Philadelphia PA. He frequently crosses genres and his style is a blend of his influences which include Beastie Boys, Sublime, and Kid Rock; he frequently crosses genres. “Party” is the lead single off the upcoming mixtape set for release during Feb 2016.

Danny-Newport-350“Party” seems a strange entity from an initial listen, but with successive spins, the odd cut unfurls its brilliance. The synth dominated beat, contributed by Danny Newport and Kapano West, though energetic, is somewhat understated and simple, but that is the appeal. Danny is on top of his game and spits out some quirky rhymes along with some really powerful choruses about: “The party don’t stop until we stop. Cuz we gonna party for the rest of our lives.”

This is urban music that transcends age, race, socioeconomic class, you pick. This is fun music aimed and anyone yearning for a goodtime and it doesn’t get much better than this. Danny Newport’s incredibly solid flow, the amazing production and a strange kind of synergy that’s hard to explain between everyone involved – including The FrequencyMonster and Joseph “Big Joe” Warlick who handle the mixing and additional production – making it really feel like this is going to end up being one of those collaborations where something magic happens when they work together.

Danny-Newport-profileToo much rap today is presumptuous, narcissistic, inane and untruthful. Danny Newport keeps things honest and simple here. “Party” is catchy enough for people to want to listen to, and advanced and complex enough to keep people listening over and above than just being a party jam.  We need to do something to get rid of stereotypes in this genre of music, and Danny Newport strays away from the typical popular rap path, in order to do something different lyrically. And I’m not talking about “Party”, which is a pretty straight-up fun track that probably won’t give you the true measure of this artist. Instead tracks like “Mercedes Benz” and “Cheers” provides something a little more thought provoking and moving to get into.

In fact listening to a few of his tracks I found that one of the amazing things about Danny Newport is how he can be so humorous and lighthearted in one song and so inspirational and deep in the next. If you’re tired of the too political, too preachy, too personal or too swaggering bling brigade, Danny Newport has an essence, a spark, a genuine and simple honesty that relates, inspires and uplifts. Something we’re bound to find on the upcoming mixtape!
