Ukrainian music project New Laconia opens a new chapter in its narrative music universe with the premiere of the animated video Stardust Bear Bazaar. It marks the beginning of a larger saga, where every track becomes a soundtrack to journeys through an imagined cosmos — filled with charismatic heroes, witty dialogues, and mysterious locations.
At the heart of the story is the Stardust Bear Bazaar, a cosmic pub beyond time and space. Its host, the charismatic Bartender Bear, mixes cocktails as if weaving together parallel realities. His partner-in-crime, the Engineer, commands portals and the technology of time itself. But when these portals begin to open not only to other worlds, but also to the past and future, the party quickly turns into a mini-detective story — complete with paradoxes, time loops, and unexpected twists.
Stardust Bear Bazaar is the first gateway into the New Laconia multiverse. More locations are coming: the shattered Asteroid City, where musicians hold underground jams; the Dream Market, where you can trade in borrowed memories; the eerie Desert of Mirrors, where time bends and reflects; as well as a cast of rogues, wanderers, and even Time itself disguised as a cunning player.
In its style, New Laconia combines several cultural codes: the adventurous drive of Guardians of the Galaxy, the irony of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, the spirit of Firefly, and the dynamic energy of games like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Here, music works as a soundtrack to the story: each track is a scene, each album a new season, and every video a portal into a visual episode.
“We wanted to build a space where you enter as a viewer but leave as a participant in the story. At the Stardust Bear Bazaar, you don’t just watch a video — you sit at the bar, share a drink with the Bear, and decide for yourself whether to trust the portals. This is music that turns into cinema, a story that comes alive in soundtracks. And we’re only beginning to reveal this world,” say the creators of New Laconia.
The project deliberately keeps the musicians anonymous, letting the characters speak instead. This unique approach has already become New Laconia’s signature: audiences experience the music not simply as songs, but as part of a larger narrative. Plans for the future include an animated series, comic books, merchandise, and brand collaborations.
