“Sooner or Later”, the new release by independent Canadian Country songstress, Lynne Taylor Donovan, is the third single from the Nashville sessions that produced her hugely successful Euro-UK #1 hit “Strong One” and the follow-up European #2 hit “Am I Dreaming”. The reigning queen of indie country music has a knack for finding a way into the hearts of her global fan base. “Sooner or Later” has a warm and deep intention, reflecting Donovan’s eloquent and versatile tidings, showcasing her country gravitas, and a swirling pool of rich technique and tender ability.

A careful sensory indulgence is heard in the track, shedding some light on sun-kissed guitar plucks, airy drum brush filters and her larger than life vocal capacity drawn into an intimate setting, as Lynne explores the multiple facets of unrequited devotion:

“He’ll take your heart, too far too fast. Give you his word then he’ll take it back, sooner or later,” or  “He’ll look straight at you with those angel eyes, laugh like the devil while he’s telling you lies, sooner or later,” as she confirms, “ I’m a woman who knows what I’m talking about. You might not want to hear it, but you’re gonna find out, sooner or later.”

This is a song that works, and it works well on all levels. Lynne Taylor Donovan’s genuine charm has been spell casting many for a few years now with her signature musical filings enthralling the die-hard country music devotee and non.

“Sooner or Later” continues this custom, unearthing more emotional material from the artist, as Lynne gives a great vocal performance on a track that is fully developed lyrically. Donovan is again expanding her sonic palette here with some shimmering production and a very modern country edge, but she’s not stepping outside of her fans’ comfort zone.

Lynne Taylor Donovan and her production team have managed to integrate the song, and vocal performance with a fully-realized backdrop of instrumentation, making “Sooner or Later” a richly nuanced sonic tapestry that matches the mood of the story-line. It’s hard to imagine anyone else breathing as much life into this track. Artistic freedom has never sounded so good.
