Born in Port –au – Prince Haiti Wilson Charles made his way to Boston Massachusetts in 1991. As a child growing up listening to artists such as Frank Sinitra, Billie Holiday, Stevie Wonder , to Michael Jackson, Tupac and Biggie Smalls. Car rides on the way to school, listening to his step father who is a musician and his mother who was the leader of the church choir made Charles like music.

“It wasn’t until I saw Tupac’s “Brenda’s got a BABY” video on MTV”, say Charles, “that I realized this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Watching that video made me feel as a kid and I said to myself now imagine just giving people that feeling with every song. You can change the world.”

He comes strong with this solo project as it keeps you slow- grooving from intro to outro. Wilson Charles has a gift and he has expressed this through “Ohh Baby”.

The track helps define what contemporary R&B is, by delivering a slick mix of pop, soul, R&B and hip-hop elements. And when you consider the amount of skill that is used throughout the single; it’s quite an impressive piece of creative work.

The lyrics are very catchy and the beat is darn infectious, as it plays in your mind well after. This song also happens to be a heartfelt R&B love-song where everything works so well that it could cross into the mainstream as well.

Overall, this is a phenomenal single, one which never takes a wrong step. Wilson Charles shows himself to be a vocalist of considerable range and talent, and the production is top-notch. One could easily mistake it for senseless pop when reading the song title; but when you examine the skill and craft that has been put into the single, it is clear that “Ohh Baby” is really a great piece of work with no rough edges.
