At a young age Rellz Tha Postman began to do hip hop music. At first it was just for fun and he loved to battle his classmates. After meeting William Street things became more serious. Together they started a group called SY(Sincerely Yours), but working together became harder to do because of many reasons so Rellz began to put out solo projects. Rellz started writing to instrumentals until he decided to make his own music. Using programs like FL studio and equipment like MIDI keybords, MPD 26, M-Audio speakers was the route he initially chose.

Christobal the Vision was diagnosed with autistic features at an early age. As a child, he was gifted with the ability to rap by looking at music videos that were showcasing rap. The inspiration for beats began from playing the Playstation 2 video game called MTV Music Generator 2; afterwards production came to Fruity Loops and Christobal began to find his art form of 80’s-esque instrumentals.

Both Rellz Tha Postman and Christobal the Vision are affiliated with Flyah ENT through which they have released their 12-track project, “XR ProJections (The EP)”. I just listened to this album for the fifth time last night and I cannot describe how amazed I was by a fantastic music and rhymes put together by Rellz Tha Postman and Christobal the Vision. Every single song is just fantastic and fits well with the album.

The thing that’s really great about “XR ProJections (The EP)”, is that it’s exactly what die-hard rap fans have been waiting for: lyrically it’s a monster, the flows are so on point in basically every song, and the production is great. Long story short: If you’re looking for the paint-by-numbers usual mainstream offerings, you might be disappointed. If however you too are a lover of real hip-hop who has lived long enough to have a change in perspective – and appreciate those changes, then like me, you will absolutely love this album.

XR ProJections (The EP)” is what real hip-hop should go back to being; songs that speak to you, an album where you don’t need to skip any tracks, something that’s able to keep you thinking even after the final track has stopped playing. Take note, Rellz Tha Postman and Christobal the Vision are not rappers, they transcend – they are artists!

As the bass-synth and piano rolls in on the opening track, “Keys To Expansion”, you know you’re in for something different, but it truly hits you on the soulful “Conscious Rap”. The duo rap in power-packed phrases, which play out like vignettes in your mind. The confidence is real, it’s mature and it’s ever present on standouts like “Had A Dream”, “Close To Me”, “Inspired”, “Clear Noise”, “Nikon Flash” and “Keep Steady”.

Throughout the tracks, I kept hearing Rellz Tha Postman and Christobal the Vision…and I kept thinking Rakim, Mos Def and Common. This is throwback real rap music and it will stand the test of time and that’s what makes a true Classic album. It’s conceived like a pop formula -only one out of 12 tracks reach the 3-minute mark – yet it plays out like an underground, alternative concept album. The mixing and mastering is also essential here, as the tracks are crystal clear with a punchy bottom end. All in all the “XR ProJections (The EP)” is not only creatively consistent; it is absolutely amazing in every department.
