Sarantos kicks off 2016 with a brand new rock song, entitled “Pain Of The Past”, which promises to be yet another feather in his cap, considering he has no record label or professional promoter pushing his brand. On his own personal steam, Sarantos has won the Akademia LA Music Awards in 2015 for ‘Best Song’ (What If I Never See You Again), ‘Best Rock Song’ (Easy To Believe), ‘Best Rock Ballad’ (The Veteran), ‘Best Rock Music Video’ (We Accept The Love We Think We Deserve), ‘Best Singer/Songwriter Song’ (A Mission Of Heart, I Sing), ‘Best Pop Song’ (I Sing) and ‘Best Pop Rock Album’ (Not Where I Wanna Be).
Sarantos has also won twelve Beat 100 song and music video awards in during both 2015 and 2014. He was also nominated for the International Music & Entertainments Awards in 2015 for “Rock Song of the Year” and in 2014 for “Rock Song of the Year” and “Pop Album of the Year.” In 2014, he was also nominated for the Hollywood Songwriting Awards for ‘Best Unsigned Song’ (Are You Sure You Can Last). Plus the cherry on top; his song “What If I Never See You Again” has been in the top 200 on the majors list in the US for radio airplay according to the Digital Radio Tracker Top 200 charts. If that’s not a superlative track record for any DIY independent music artist, then tell me what is!
Furthermore this talented and generous artist continuous to donate a substantial part of his profits to charity organizations, again, 33% of any music-related sales profits from “Pain Of The Past”, are going straight to Feed The Starving Children. This track sees Sarantos go right back to his rock roots, adding an alternative twist to the tune. I am a big fan of musicians who know how to write quality songs that tell a story without being too sappy in one extreme or too obtuse in the other extreme. A strong sense of memory and character abounds in this song, and there’s plenty of conflict and regret, but there’s also a feeling of purpose, hope and potential for good.
“This is an emotional rock song about the past” says Sarantos. “This is about someone who keeps remembering the moments gone by. They remember the stain of the past. The pain of the past casts a shadow that light or time cannot fade! Why does the past never goes away? Why is the past here to stay? The past is powerful but we should not be afraid of it. We shouldn’t keep it repressed. The past and all the good and bad things we have done molded us into what we are. Hopefully, we learn from the mistakes and keep waking up every day just trying to do the right thing.”
Many of Sarantos’ songs really only tease out their greatness after a few listening’s, “Pain Of The Past” is a powerful but poignant song with a driving bass, and lyrical complexity that only Sarantos can make seem effortless. This is the return to base for Sarantos. He has put his words and feelings so poignantly into song that you can feel the emotions of every note, chorus and guitar lick. Masterfully produced and sonically soothing, Sarantos keeps on delivering music with meaning. There’s hardly an independent artist putting stuff out on this level and covering all the creative and promotional areas by himself. Extraordinary!
