The track “Make Up Your Mind” is not only a display of Miles Grindey’s artistic skills as a musician and songwriter but it also gives the opportunity to some of the band members, in particular Ian Michael Bruh on vocals, Wayne Viar on drums, Enrico Galetta on bass and Bill Hart on keys, to shine with a level of musicianship of incredible standards. Bruh has an exceptional presence to his vocals that’s more than big enough to compete with the rock solid band behind him, and listening to it here will totally heal your spirit. Miles smokes on the guitar, but never overpowers the mid-tempo groove and well-written lyrics. His guitar tones are full and defined on both lead and rhythm and he uses them to put his skills right out front. Miles opts for a focused “all thrill no swill” mentality here, and it makes the track go down like a classic from guitar music’s glory days.

Miles Grindey has consistently done himself proud since first hitting the scene with his debut EP, but his latest single, “Make Up Your Mind” is a high-water mark by any metric you’d care to employ. This song communicates the experience and growth Miles has accumulated to date.

He has certainly reached peaks of quality, depth and beauty in his playing never reached before. Sure, I’ve heard Miles tear his six-string apart on the album “Caught in a Storm”, but now he has added a complete new dimension to his playing, where tone and finesse play a major role.

On “Make Up Your Mind”, Miles Grindey has gone far and beyond any of his other previous studio records, in terms of craftsmanship and level of class. It is fascinating to witness the progression and maturation of a man and an artist that, through each record, has grown up in many different ways, by always challenging himself and his musical vision.

“Make Up Your Mind” is aimed at, and will appeal to, a much wider audience than just guitar aficionados. Besides his phenomenal guitar playing skills, this track shows off Miles’ formidable talent as a songwriter. Miles also let us in on a songwriting secret, stating that the track contains an “easter egg”: In the lyrics, the line, “Love is blind, said Tommy”, is a reference to the best worst film ever made “The Room” and Tommy Wiseau’s character, Tommy.

This track is perfectly tuned for mainstream rock radio, and the like, with its steady rhythm and heartfelt lyrics. “Make Up Your Mind” is a well-thought-out, well-written and exquisitely-produced single. If it doesn’t add considerably to Miles Grindey’s acclaim, then I suggest that any naysayers have their ears cleaned.

Unlike many talented guitar players, Miles doesn’t try to be flashy but uses his talents in the service of the song. In a better, bygone time, “Make Up Your Mind” would be a platinum-selling single, heard blasting out of every car stereo in town all summer long. Miles Grindey has fused a clever amalgam of hard-edged rock, alongside a tinge of contemporary pop and blues, with a thrillingly positive outcome.

The Miles Grindey Story So Far: Miles Grindey was born in Southampton, where began playing the guitar at the age of nine. During his time at school he listened to Van Halen which kept his momentum going. In 2015 Miles left home to study politics at the University of Brighton where he joined the Music Society. After meeting Jack Pout (previously a member of the group Fukushima Dolphin) at a music store, Miles auditioned as lead guitarist for the band The Bones and Arrows. They recorded a self-titled EP together before Miles left the band in 2016 to pursue a solo career.

This led to Miles Grindey releasing his debut EP, “Keeping My Sanity”, which was followed by the album, “Caught in a Storm”. In 2018 Miles dropped his first single “Ethereal Bollocks”. Following the completion of his degree, Miles returned to Southampton and began work on his second album. In November 2018, Miles left Southampton temporarily, to go to Atlanta, Georgia where he spent a lot of time in various studios working with musicians and becoming a regular in the jam scene. Upon his return to England in May 2019 he released the first single, entitled “Make Up Your Mind”, from his upcoming second album.
